The Heisman Trophy Trust reportedly plans to strip former USC running back Reggie Bush of his Heisman Trophy by the end of the month. According to Yahoo! Sports, the organization is making the move because of the punishment the NCAA handed down to USC, including voiding his eligibility for the end of 2004 and all of 2005, when he won the award. That ruling stemmed from an NCAA investigation that found Bush committed multiple violations, including taking cash, gifts, and other benefits provided to his family while he was at USC. As part of the penalties, USC was forced to vacate all victories while Bush was ineligible, and the NCAA ordered his name stricken from all of publications and statistics from games he played while ineligible. USC is appealing some of the sanctions, but the university has already returned Bush’s Heisman and stricken all references to it from school records and facilities.
